Crochet Shell Crossbody Bag Free Pattern
MATERIALS
- Polyester yarn or any yarn for 3.5mm hook
- DK - Med. weight yarn
- Approximately 100grams
- 3.5 - 4.0mm Hook
- 2mm Button
- Stitch Marker
- Tapestry Needle
ABBREVIATIONS
ch - chain
hdc - half double crochet
dc - double crochet
sl - slip stitch
blo - back loops only
INC - Increase (2 dc in the same stitch)
FINISHED SIZE
21cm x 17xm
CIRCLE 1
Start every round with ch2
Rnd 1: 12dc in magic ring, sl. [12]
Rnd 2: 12 INC, sl. [24]
Rnd 3: (INC, 1dc) 12x, sl. [36]
Rnd 4: (2dc, INC) 12x, sl. [48]
Rnd 5: (INC, 3dc) 12x, sl. [60]
Rnd 6: (4dc, INC) 12x, sl. [72]
Cut the yarn
Including the sl, count 11 stitches then place the stitch marker in the 12th stitch (Starting From left to right)
CIRCLE 2
Repeat circle 1 but do not cut the yarn once you reach the end because we will use circle 2 to connect with circle 1.
SHELL
Circle 2: ch16, Place both circles from back to back, sl in the stitch where the stitch marker is placed in circle 1.
sl again in the next stitch in circle 1
Remove the stitch marker
Rnd 1: ch1, 16hdc in each ch stitches across, sl in the next stitch in circle 2, sl again in next.
Rnd 2: ch1, flip, 16hdc blo in each stitches across, sl in next stitch in circle 1, sl again in next.
Rnd 3-50: Repeat Rnd 1 & 2
Odd no. Rnd: Repeat Rnd 1
Even no. Rnd: Repeat Rnd 2
Weave excess yarn inside.
You should have a total of 21dc left for the opening in both circles.
LOCK STRAP
Row 1: ch20, 1dc in the 3rd ch from the hook, 1dc in each ch stitches across [18dc].
ch5, 1dc in each ch stitches on the opposite side [36dc].
Row 2: ch2, flip, 1dc in each stitches across [18dc].
10dc in the ch5 space [28dc].
1dc in each stitches on the opposite side [46dc].
ch1, 2sc in each row spaces at the bottom of the strap including the center space, cut, leave long yarn tail for weaving [9sc].
Attach the Lock Strap at the back of the bag using the long yarn tail after that, Add 2mm button at the center of the back in front side.
BAG STRAP
Leave a long yarn tail, ch3
Row 1: Insert hook in the 2nd ch from the hook, pull up a loop [2loops] insert again in next, pull up a loop [3loops].
Pull through in the first loop only, pull through in ever 2 loops.
Row 2: Insert hook in every front loops, pull up a loop [3loops] Pull through in the first loop only, pull through in every 2 loops.
Repeat the same pattern until you reach 100-120cm in length. ch1 once you reach the end to secure, cut, leave a long yarn tail. Use the long yarn tail to attach the bag strap in the 8th and 9th hdc space of the shell part.
